U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville has been appointed as Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Subcommittee on Personnel. In this role, Tuberville will oversee staffing for the Department of Defense's military and civilian personnel, policies, compensation, benefits, and military nominations. He will also provide oversight on various military budget accounts and DOD offices and agencies.
Alabama is home to over 13,000 active-duty military members, more than 25,000 National Guard and reserve members, nearly 400,000 veterans, and five military bases. As Chairman, Tuberville aims to advocate for these servicemembers by ensuring they have adequate resources and care.
Senator Tuberville expressed his commitment to his new role: “As Alabama’s voice on the Senate Armed Services Committee, I’m honored to be the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Personnel. As the son of a World War II veteran, I know firsthand the sacrifices that our men and women in uniform make for our country. I will see to it that military personnel are well-compensated and get the benefits they deserve—it’s the least we can do."
Additionally, Tuberville serves on the Subcommittee on Seapower where he focuses on restoring America's naval superiority and promoting Alabama's shipbuilding industries. His position enables him to work on issues pertinent to Alabama.
In his role with the Subcommittee on Strategic Forces, Tuberville prioritizes U.S. Space Command (SPACECOM) activities at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville. This subcommittee also oversees America's Missile Defense Agency.
Tuberville's service across these subcommittees is expected to support Alabama's military installations statewide.
Senator Tommy Tuberville represents Alabama in the United States Senate and is a member of several committees including Senate Armed Services, Agriculture, Veterans’ Affairs, HELP, and Aging Committees.
