U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville recently addressed the Senate, urging the confirmation of Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense and Brooke Rollins as Secretary of Agriculture. He emphasized the need for change in the Department of Defense and highlighted concerns about foreign investments in U.S. agriculture.
Tuberville expressed support for Hegseth, stating, "Pete Hegseth is the choice, the right choice... he will energize this military into the next decade." He criticized current military policies and stressed the importance of a strong defense to protect national security.
In addition to advocating for Hegseth's confirmation, Tuberville reintroduced the Foreign Adversary Risk Management (FARM) Act. This legislation aims to secure America's agricultural industry by adding the Secretary of Agriculture to the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS). Tuberville noted, "We cannot allow our adversaries to have a foot in the door to our critical supply chains."
Tuberville also called for swift confirmation of Brooke Rollins as Secretary of Agriculture. He praised her background and leadership skills, saying, "Brooke is a conservative warrior and will be an excellent Ag Secretary." He emphasized her experience with rural communities and efforts to protect U.S. farmland from foreign control.
The senator concluded by urging prompt action on both nominations to safeguard American agriculture and national security.
