U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville from Alabama has expressed concerns over infrastructure challenges affecting the state's waterways. In a recent statement, Tuberville highlighted issues with the Holt Lock on the Tenn-Tom waterway, noting that it is one of three locks that have failed this year in Alabama.

"I'm glad to see the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers was able to get the Holt Lock back up and running," Tuberville stated. He emphasized the unrealistic expectations placed on aging infrastructure, which operates beyond its intended lifespan without substantial investment. According to him, this situation threatens supply chains and businesses relying on navigable waterways.

Tuberville criticized the $1.2 trillion infrastructure deal pushed by Vice President Kamala Harris and President Joe Biden three years ago, pointing out that "less than 20% of the money has been spent – and Alabama businesses and communities are bearing the brunt."

He further remarked, "Instead of continuing to send billions of taxpayer dollars to Ukraine, Kamala Harris and Joe Biden should focus on making sure basic American infrastructure needs are being met."

Senator Tuberville serves Alabama in the United States Senate and is a member of several committees including Armed Services, Agriculture, Veterans’ Affairs, and HELP.
