U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville of Alabama has played a key role in the passage of the FY25 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which outlines funding and policy guidance for the Department of Defense. As a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Tuberville worked to secure several initiatives aimed at benefiting both the military and his home state.
The NDAA passed in the Senate with an 85-14 vote. Tuberville highlighted conservative achievements within the bill, including reducing funding for diversity, equity, and inclusion programs, preventing taxpayer money from being used for puberty blockers for minors, supporting military installations in Alabama, and securing a 14.5% pay raise for junior enlisted service members.
"I am proud of the conservative wins we were able to deliver in this year’s NDAA for Alabama and our great military," stated Senator Tuberville. He expressed confidence that under future leadership by President Trump and Pete Hegseth, there would be a renewed focus on deterring war and protecting U.S. security.
Alabama is set to receive over $1 billion in critical funding through this bill to support its bases, troops, facilities, and defense industrial base. Tuberville looks forward to future negotiations where Congress and the Executive branch can collaborate more closely under President Trump's administration.
According to constitutional requirements, Congress must pass a defense authorization bill annually since appropriations cannot extend beyond two years. This year's bill spans 1,813 pages and includes various provisions focused on slashing "woke" funding while promoting a warfighting agenda, investing in domestic production, increasing oversight, taking care of service members, and combating foreign influence.
Senator Tommy Tuberville represents Alabama in the United States Senate and serves on multiple committees including Armed Services, Agriculture, Veterans’ Affairs, and HELP Committees.
