U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) has sent a letter to the Biden-Harris Department of State, seeking clarification on why congressionally-approved military equipment and munitions are being withheld from Israeli military and law enforcement. The letter emphasizes that failing to provide these resources, which were legally purchased through the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) process, is both unlawful and detrimental to U.S. foreign policy interests.

Senator Tuberville's letter requests a written unclassified report from Secretary of State Antony Blinken by August 30, 2024. In his correspondence, Tuberville stated: "Withholding vital weapons and munitions from both the Israeli military and law enforcement is immoral and needlessly weakens one of our strongest allies in a time of critical need."

Tuberville highlighted the ongoing threats faced by Israel since its statehood in 1948, referencing an attack last October when Hamas crossed into Israel and targeted civilians. He stressed that withholding support undermines decades of cooperation between the United States and Israel.

The senator also noted: "Hamas must be eliminated, and Iran must be deterred." He reiterated that withholding necessary weapons compromises Israel's ability to defend itself.

Tuberville represents Alabama in the United States Senate and serves on several committees including Armed Services, Agriculture, Veterans’ Affairs, and HELP.
