Dr. Gordon Isbell III, President of Isbell Dental in Gadsden and former President of the Alabama Dental Association, testified at a Senate HELP Committee hearing on May 16, 2024. The hearing was titled "Examining the Dental Care Crisis in America: How can we make Dental Care More Affordable and More Available?" Dr. Isbell has been practicing general dentistry since 1981 and is also on staff at the Gadsden Regional Hospital and Riverview Regional Hospital.

U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), Ranking Member of the U.S. Senate HELP Subcommittee on Children and Families, introduced Dr. Isbell to the committee. In his introductory remarks, available for viewing on YouTube and Rumble, Senator Tuberville praised Dr. Isbell's contributions to Alabama and the field of dentistry.

"Thank you, Ranking Member Cassidy. It’s my honor today to introduce Dr. Gordon Isbell from Gadsden, Alabama," said Senator Tuberville. He highlighted Dr. Isbell's educational background at Auburn University and UAB as well as his service to the Gadsden community through his practice, Isbell Dental.

Senator Tuberville also noted Dr. Isbell's active involvement with the Academy of General Dentistry where he served in various leadership roles at both state and national levels. He further acknowledged Dr. Isbell's tenure as President of the Alabama Dental Association from 2017 to 2018.

Dr. Isbell has received numerous honors and awards throughout his distinguished career from entities across Alabama and nationwide for his advocacy work for dentists, their patients, and their communities while raising five children with his wife Cindy.

"Today, Dr. Isbell will bring an important perspective to this hearing – that of a practicing dentist in a community and state with many wide-ranging health care challenges," said Senator Tuberville.

In addition to his professional duties, Dr. Isbell provides charitable care to his community through his involvement with Donated Dental Services, Mission of Mercies, and Regional Access Missions Programs. He was invited to the hearing to discuss the efforts of private practice dentists across the country in reaching underserved populations.

Senator Tuberville concluded his remarks by thanking Dr. Isbell for his participation: "Dr. Isbell, thank you for being here."

Senator Tommy Tuberville represents Alabama in the United States Senate and is a member of the Senate Armed Services, Agriculture, Veterans’ Affairs, and HELP Committees.
