U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) and U.S. Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) introduced the CHIPS Improvement Act today, aiming to amend the CHIPS and Science Act (CHIPS). The original CHIPS Act, signed into law in 2022, was designed to shift semiconductor manufacturing from China to the United States. However, according to Tuberville and Lee, the act's final version includes numerous regulations, such as DEI requirements and environmental justice initiatives, which have caused delays in implementation and access to funding.
