U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville has recognized U.S. Marine Corps Corporal Wayne Everett as the March "Veteran of the Month." In a video released today, Senator Tuberville highlighted Corporal Everett's service and dedication.

"Challenges are a part of life that show us what we’re really made of," said Senator Tuberville. "Corporal Wayne Everett of Fultondale reminds us that while we can’t control what challenges life throws our way, we can control how we respond."

Corporal Everett enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1965 and served in Vietnam. After his military service, he returned to Birmingham to work with his father as a painter for ten years. His experiences during active duty influenced his approach to family life and career.

Everett faced personal challenges when his wife was diagnosed with cancer while they were raising young children. Despite her passing, he remained committed to his church and family. He later remarried an old friend, forming a blended family.

"He is admired by all who know him, including his stepdaughter Reata, who nominated him for this recognition," added Senator Tuberville. "While Wayne is a man of few words, his character and actions speak volumes."

Senator Tuberville honors different Alabama veterans each month for their service and community contributions. Nominations can be submitted by constituents via email to press_office@tuberville.senate.gov.

Senator Tommy Tuberville serves Alabama in the United States Senate and is involved in several committees including Armed Services, Agriculture, Veterans’ Affairs, HELP, and Aging.
