U.S. Senators Tommy Tuberville of Alabama and Steve Daines of Montana have teamed up to introduce the Protecting Access for Hunters and Anglers Act. This legislation aims to prevent federal agencies such as the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Bureau of Land Management, and U.S. Forest Service from banning lead ammunition or tackle on public lands unless there is scientific evidence supporting such a decision.

Senator Tuberville emphasized the importance of hunting in Alabama, stating, “From Sand Mountain to the Gulf of America, Alabamians devote a large portion of their free time to hunting in the great outdoors.” He added that banning lead ammo and tackle would be "unfair" to those enjoying nature.

Similarly, Senator Daines highlighted Montana's outdoor traditions: “The great outdoors is a staple of our Montana way of life." He stressed that decisions affecting outdoor recreation should be based on "commonsense science," not influenced by anti-hunting groups.

Joining Senators Tuberville and Daines in sponsoring this bill are 26 other senators including John Barrasso (R-WY), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), John Boozman (R-AR), Katie Britt (R-AL), Bill Cassidy (R-LA), Tom Cotton (R-AR), Kevin Cramer (R-ND), Mike Crapo (R-ID), Deb Fischer (R-NE), Bill Hagerty (R-TN), John Hoeven (R-ND), Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS), Jim Justice (R-WV), James Lankford (R-OK), Mike Lee (R-UT), Cynthia Lummis (R-WY), Roger Marshall (R-KS), Jerry Moran (R-KS), Jim Risch (R-IN), Mike Rounds (R-SD), Rick Scott (R-FL), Dan Sullivan (R-AK), Thom Tillis (R-NC), John Thune (R-SD) and Roger Wicker (R-MS).

Senator Tommy Tuberville serves on several Senate committees including Armed Services, Agriculture, Veterans’ Affairs, HELP, and Aging.
