U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) appeared on "Mornings with Maria" on Fox Business Network to discuss President Biden’s performance during the recent CNN Presidential Debate, as well as the situation at the U.S. border in El Paso and his attendance at the inauguration of Panamanian President José Mulino.
Regarding President Biden's cognitive fitness, Tuberville commented: "Well, first of all, it’s kind of like a reality show. Those of us who’ve been in Congress for going on four years have noticed all this. We’ve witnessed it. The mainstream media have been blocking everything that the Biden family has been doing. They’ve been hiding him out in Delaware. It’s really embarrassing for our country."
Tuberville continued by questioning the leadership in Washington, D.C., stating: "We need leadership now and we don’t need to wait another five months." When asked about potential scenarios involving the 25th Amendment, he remarked: "I really don’t. I don’t think that will happen. I think Jill Biden is really the one making the decisions physically for President Biden right now."
The discussion also touched upon international perspectives on U.S. leadership, with Tuberville noting: "Our adversaries are watching, but also our allies are watching this... People that count on us... they’re all watching going, ‘What in the world is [the] American people doing? Where is this country going?’ And right now, we are not going anywhere."
On illegal immigration and border security issues, Tuberville addressed recent events in El Paso where migrants stormed the border and were subsequently released into the country. He stated: "Open borders are not what is going to help make this country even better." He highlighted his current visit to Panama City for President José Mulino's inauguration and emphasized Mulino's stance on stopping migration through the Darién Gap.
Tuberville concluded by expressing hope that cooperation with Mulino could alleviate some pressures at the U.S.-Mexico border until there is a change in U.S. administration.
Senator Tommy Tuberville represents Alabama in the United States Senate and serves on several committees including Armed Services, Agriculture, Veterans’ Affairs, and HELP.
