U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) expressed his concerns about the re-hiring of incompetent employees at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the use of VA resources for illegal aliens during a Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs meeting. Senator Tuberville emphasized the importance of providing great care to veterans, stating, "You deserve great care. Great care. Not average care."
He criticized the current administration for allowing fired employees to return to work at the VA, saying, "It's a disgrace. Do your job, or you don't work in the VA." Tuberville highlighted the need for the VA to focus on providing timely and quality care to veterans, rather than getting involved in processing healthcare claims for illegal aliens.
During the committee meeting, Senator Tuberville questioned Duane Sarmiento, the Commander-in-Chief of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S., about the Biden Administration's use of VA resources for healthcare claims processing for illegal aliens. Sarmiento clarified that there are VA employees processing ICE's financial claims at the border but emphasized opposition to using VA resources for undocumented immigrants.
When asked about his bill, the No VA Resources for Illegal Aliens Act, which aims to prevent the use of VA resources for illegal aliens, Sarmiento expressed unfamiliarity with the details of the legislation but offered to discuss it further with Senator Tuberville's staff.
In response to the discussion, Tuberville thanked the committee members for their responses, concluding the meeting by stating, "Thank you, Mr. Chairman."
Senator Tommy Tuberville is a member of various Senate committees, including Armed Services, Agriculture, Veterans' Affairs, and HELP Committees, and represents Alabama in the United States Senate.
