The No. 2 seed South Alabama Jaguars opens play at the Sun Belt Conference Tournament on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m., taking on the No. 10 seed Marshall Herd. The match will be the first ever meeting between the two teams.
South got a first round bye, while Marshall played on Monday night, defeating Appalachian State 2-1 in overtime.
The Jags are looking to complete the "four peat", by securing their fourth straight tournament title, and their ninth overall title.
South finished the regular season 6-1-3 in conference play, losing only to Arkansas State in the final game of the season.
South Alabama finished the regular season atop the league in multiple categories: assists per game (2.00), points per game (6.56), scoring offense (2.28), shutout percentage (.677), total assists (36), total points (118) and total goals (41).
Jasmine Greene leads the conference in total goals in league play (8), goals per game (.80) and total points (18). Greene also ranks 13th in the nation for total goals this season.
The Jags had multiple players earn Sun Belt Conference honors, with Jasmine Greene named Sun Belt Player of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year, and Gabriela Angulo named Freshman of the Year.
Greene, Abby Jacobs and Nour Imane Addi were named first-team all-conference while Monique Gray, Danielle Fuentes and Jaidy Gutierrez Campos were named second-team all-conference.
