Mobile is One Step Closer to Opening a Topgolf at McGowin Park

Mobile is on the verge of landing a $22 million Topgolf facility that will bring approximately 150 new full and part-time jobs.

The Mobile County Commission approved a $1.25-million incentive agreement Monday morning.

Developers will go before the Mobile City Council on Tuesday to discuss the remaining $1.25 million of the incentive package. A vote is expected at the August 30 meeting.

“This means new jobs, new sales tax revenue, new property tax revenue coming back into this economy. The incentive deal has a payback period of only 2.3 years,” said Mobile Chamber Vice President of Economic Development David Rodgers. “We expect almost $20 million of new revenue to come back into this economy with our economic impact analysis.”

The project will include 60 climate-controlled hitting bays on two stories, restaurants with chef-inspired menus and hand-crafted cocktails, meeting spaces and more.

It will be located at McGowin Park at Interstate 65 and Government Boulevard. The entertainment complex will replace the Hollywood Theater.

If approved, construction is expected to begin by the end of the year.
