The University of South Alabama men's track and field's Kirami Yego broke the Home Bank Soccer & Track Facility record and won the 10,000m race while the men's team led after day one of the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
The Jaguars had nine top-5 finishes highlighted by performances from Yego, Teagan Flanagan (10,000m), Onesmus Kemboi (10,000m), Francois Prinsloo (hammer throw) and Josh Estes (javelin).
The highlight of the day came during the final event, the men's 10,000m; in which Yego, Flanagan, Kemboi, Nate Pudner and Jared Peaslee all placed in the top-10, scoring 25 team points for the men's squad.
The women's track and field team finished in third place with 22 points at the conclusion of the day. USA saw nine personal records fall throughout the first day of the conference meet.

MEN'S/WOMEN'S FIELD NOTES
- Prinsloo earned second place in the hammer throw with a 61.04m mark. Quinton Webb (56.88m) placed fourth in the same event.
- Estes finished third in the javelin with a personal-best mark of 66.25m.
- Reyneke currently holds third place in the men's decathlon with 3,716 points after breaking personal records in the high jump (1.99m) and shot put (13.87m) while winning both events.
- Collins sits in fourth in the men's decathlon with 3,644 points after breaking his personal high jump record (1.96m) and taking two third-place finishes in both the high jump and 100m (11.16).
- Savannah Morgan's personal-best performance earned her fourth place in the pole vault (3.72m).
- Colette Uys (55.96m) and Bodine Degli-Umberti (54.14) placed fourth and fifth, respectively, in the hammer throw.
MEN'S/WOMEN'S RUNNING NOTES
- Yego won the 10,000m while breaking the facility record, previously held by Jaguar Hall of Famer Vincent Rono, with a time of 29:20.13. He now sits at third in the all-time program list.
- Four other Jaguars: Flanagan (30:10.95), Kemboi (31:12.15), Pudner (31:50.81) and Peaslee (32:31.66); clocked top-10 finishes in the 10,000m.
- Adele Magaud finished fourth in the 10,000m and established personal record of 37:38.78.
- Giacomo DeLuca (3:55.49) and Abbey Weitenbeck (4:44.18) both qualified for the 1500m finals.
- Freshman Kendal White (53.88) and sophomore Rachel Hunter (1:02.47) both qualified for the 400m hurdles final while clocking personal-best times.

Day two of the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships will begin with the men's decathlon 110m hurdles at 9:00 a.m., Friday morning.
