Mobile Police Department concluded “Operation Santa’s Helpers,” which is an annual event to help children in need. Typically, MPD calls the event “Shop with a Cop,” but this year officers shopped for 50 children ahead of time and then met with parents and children to hand out the gifts .
All the gifts received were picked out by the families and included scooters, LEGO sets, miniature hockey games, play kitchens, dolls and clothing. Operation Santa’s Helpers is a project organized by the Crime Prevention Unit, but it relies on support from sponsors like Gulf Coast Federal Credit Union, Joe Bullard Automotive, Springhill Toyota and the Gulf Coast Association of Black Journalists.
It is always great to see our employees so passionate about helping others. Just like our Parks and Recreation employees that helped during a toy giveaway last week, the men and women in MPD’s Crime Prevention Unit spent time helping these families because that’s exactly where they wanted to be.
In Leadership Promises for Every Day, author J. Maxwell notes that, “more than experience, intelligence, and education, it’s a successful person’s passion that often makes the difference.” Passion is the first step to achievement. Your desire determines your destiny. It’s passion that can make the impossible possible.
