CITY OF MOBILE: A Message from Mayor Stimpson - September 3

Meeting 08

City of Mobile issued the following announcement on Sept. 3.

Mobile County Health Department reports 12,438 COVID-19 cases, an increase of 59 cases.

The State of the City and County Virtual event was held this afternoon and it was a great success. I enjoyed hearing from Commissioner Ludgood, who gave an update on behalf of the Mobile County Commission. Hats off to all of the progress being made throughout our community.

I missed getting to see everyone in person this year, but the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce did an excellent job conducting the event via Zoom.

In today's speech, I asked the question: In a year marked by a global pandemic and social unrest how do we measure the state of the city? Health statistics would show mixed results, but no statistics would reveal the unparalleled collaboration among government officials, healthcare providers, and private industry.

The true state of our city in the year 2020 should be measured by the teamwork, ingenuity, commitment, collaboration, perseverance, and hope inspired. The state of our city is very strong, and we should all be optimistic about the future.
