Mobile Courant

About 49.2 percent of the 3,906 degrees and certificates handed out by the University of South Alabama in 2017-18 were to students in health professions and related programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in Mobile conferred 863 master's degrees and 511 bachelor's degrees in health professions and related programs.

But the single most popular program was for a master's degree in registered nursing/registered nurse. Data shows the school gave out 773 master's degrees in registered nursing/registered nurse, followed by 281 bachelor's degrees in registered nursing/registered nurse and 185 doctor's degrees in registered nursing/registered nurse.

The university enrolled 14,834 students for 2017-18, including 10,293 in undergraduate programs and 4,541 in graduate programs.
