79 percent of applicants to the University of South Alabama were admitted for fall 2018

At the University of South Alabama, 84 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 59 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Mobile enrolled 14,834 students in fall 2018, including 10,293 in undergraduate and 4,541 in graduate programs, data shows. 7.5 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

78 percent of undergraduates are residents of Alabama, and 21 percent are residents of other states. 1 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (61 percent) and Black or African American (23 percent).

The school admitted 79 percent of the 6,555 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 37 percent enrolled.
