U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) has expressed support for Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth through an op-ed published in Breitbart. Tuberville, who played a role in Hegseth’s confirmation, continues to back the Secretary amid criticism from various quarters.
In his op-ed, Tuberville stated, “When President Trump nominated Pete Hegseth to serve as Secretary of the Department of Defense, he intentionally picked someone who understands what it means to fight for this country—not from behind a desk, but from the frontlines.” According to Tuberville, Hegseth’s leadership has positively impacted military recruiting.
Tuberville addressed the criticism Hegseth has faced, attributing it to globalists, media, and some Republicans who oppose his outsider status. “Predictably, Democrats, the Swamp, and RINO Republicans immediately banded together in opposition to Hegseth’s nomination,” he wrote.
The Senator further argued that attacks on Hegseth are attempts to distract from his successes at the Pentagon. Tuberville criticized previous administrations, particularly the Biden administration, for failing to focus on military readiness.
Tuberville concluded by affirming his belief in Hegseth’s leadership, stating, “Pete Hegseth is one of those leaders. So, let’s be clear: Pete’s not the problem. He’s the solution.”
