U.S. Senators Tommy Tuberville of Alabama and John Barrasso of Wyoming have introduced the Growing America’s Small Businesses and Manufacturing Act, aiming to reduce taxes for small businesses. This legislation is designed to encourage investment in manufacturing capabilities and assist small businesses, farmers, and producers in acquiring necessary equipment and supplies.
The bill proposes tax reductions on purchases such as machinery, farming equipment, energy infrastructure, building upgrades, commercial vehicles, and mining equipment. These reductions are intended to enable business owners to allocate more resources towards employee salaries, materials, and other essential expenses.
Senator Tuberville emphasized the importance of small businesses to the U.S. economy: “I’ve said it many times—small businesses are the heart and soul of the American economy.” He noted that reducing taxes would help alleviate challenges faced by these businesses due to high prices and regulations.
Senator Barrasso also highlighted the role of small businesses in sustaining Wyoming’s economy: “Wyoming’s small businesses are what keeps our economy going strong. We want to make sure they have every opportunity to succeed.”
The legislation is co-sponsored by Senators Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Katie Britt (R-AL), Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), Ted Cruz (R-TX), Steve Daines (R-MT), John Hoeven (R-ND), James Lankford (R-OK), Pete Ricketts (R-NE), Tim Sheehy (R-MT), and Todd Young (R-IN).
The proposal has received endorsements from several organizations including the National Association of Manufacturers, National Federation of Independent Business, Restore American Investment Now Coalition, Business Roundtable, USTelecom, American Forest & Paper Association among others.
