Robert Brazile born in Mobile on February 7, 1953
Robert Brazile was born in Mobile on February 7, 1953. He attended Vigor High School in Prichard. He played college football at Jackson State. In 1975, he was drafted sixth overall by the Houston Oilers. He won Defensive Rookie of the Year in his first season. He made the Pro Bowl seven times and was named All-Pro five times. Brazile was part of the NFL’s 1970s All-Decade Team. He retired in 1984. In 2018, he entered the Pro Football Hall of Fame. After football, he returned to Mobile. He coached a minor league team, then taught middle school. He worked with students with special needs. He also played tennis and stayed active in the community. His legacy includes changing the linebacker role in the NFL. His roots in Mobile remained strong throughout his life.
