U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville from Alabama appeared on "The Megyn Kelly Show" to advocate for a Senate vote on his proposed Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, known as S.9. The House of Representatives had previously passed similar legislation in January.

Tuberville's interview was timely, occurring just before National Girls and Women in Sports Day on February 5. During the show, host Megyn Kelly praised Tuberville's persistent efforts to advance the legislation despite previous challenges.

Kelly noted, “Senator Tommy Tuberville of Alabama has been on the frontlines working to pass the legislation...He has been like a dog with a bone on this—a true ally to women and girls everywhere."

Tuberville expressed urgency for Senate action: "We’ve got the majority on our side...we’ve got to get it to the floor." He mentioned that Senate leadership had committed to bringing it forward but had yet to do so.

Kelly questioned whether internal Republican disagreements might be delaying progress. In response, Tuberville acknowledged pressures faced by Senate leaders such as John Thune but emphasized that "now is the time to act."

Throughout the discussion, Tuberville underscored his commitment to advancing women's sports opportunities and protecting them from what he views as threats posed by male participation in female sports categories.

Tuberville is a member of several Senate committees including Armed Services, Agriculture, Veterans’ Affairs, HELP, and Aging.
