U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville has honored Army National Guard Major Heath Drake from Leeds as the January "Veteran of the Month." In a video release, Senator Tuberville highlighted Major Drake's dedication to his community and his contributions through both business and volunteer work.

Senator Tuberville praised Major Drake for investing "countless hours in his local community" and acknowledged his efforts in creating employment opportunities by opening two small businesses. The senator noted that Major Drake developed an interest in vegetation management during summer jobs as a teenager but attributed his military-acquired skills to building a successful company.

Major Drake's commitment extends beyond business as he has volunteered for 20 years as a coach in the Leeds Youth Baseball League and recently with Lawson State Community College's baseball team. His coaching efforts have impacted many young athletes, including Dax, who nominated him for this recognition. Dax described Major Drake as not only a coach but also "a mentor and someone he can look up to."

Each month, Senator Tuberville recognizes an Alabama veteran for their service and community contribution. Constituents are encouraged to nominate veterans by contacting the senator’s office.

Senator Tommy Tuberville serves Alabama in the U.S. Senate and is part of several committees including Armed Services, Agriculture, Veterans’ Affairs, Aging, and HELP.
