U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville of Alabama recently appeared on Fox Business with Larry Kudlow to discuss government spending and Republican strategies for supporting President Trump's tax cuts and border security agenda in the 119th Congress.
During the interview, Tuberville expressed his concerns about the Social Security Fairness Act, which he voted against despite it passing the Senate with significant support. "We haven’t in my four years here even looked at Social Security to try to make it solvent more than ten years down the road because we’re running out of money fast," Tuberville said. He warned that the act could accelerate Social Security's path to bankruptcy.
Tuberville also highlighted the challenges faced by farmers, stating, "I mean, we’re gonna lose 100,000 farms this year." He criticized what he described as excessive spending by Democrats and emphasized the need for economic assistance for farmers struggling with high input costs.
On tax cuts and border security, Tuberville agreed with Kudlow's suggestion to combine them into one reconciliation package. "We have to do tax reform...we better do tax reform early," he said. Tuberville stressed the urgency of implementing growth plans under President Trump’s administration.
Senator Tuberville represents Alabama in the U.S. Senate and serves on several committees including Armed Services, Agriculture, Veterans’ Affairs, and HELP.
