U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) appeared on Fox Business Network's "Mornings with Maria" to discuss the influx of illegal immigrants crossing the southern border, ahead of a Senate vote on the Democrats' proposed “border security” package. During his interview with host Maria Bartiromo, Tuberville also addressed a recent report that one of two Jordanian nationals apprehended while attempting to enter Quantico Marine Corps base had entered the country through the San Diego border sector last month.

Tuberville expressed concerns about national security and criticized current immigration policies. “Welcome to our new world, Maria. We’re gonna see this time after time because so many people come here. We have not vetted them. We don’t know who they are,” he stated.

Bartiromo highlighted ongoing issues related to border security, mentioning that one of the individuals who attempted to breach Quantico had crossed into the U.S. in April via San Diego. She questioned whether there would be any accountability for what she described as a "wide-open border."

Tuberville responded by emphasizing the potential risks: “It’s not if, it’s when. Our FBI director even said that. It’s just a tragedy what’s happened to our country.” He further noted financial strains on local governments: “The cities, the counties, the states are all going bankrupt trying to take care of these people.”

On the topic of the Democrats’ proposed “border security” bill, Tuberville was critical: “We’re in a desperate situation. The Democrats know if they can control this White House for another four years, America as we know it and have grown up in will be gone.” He suggested that efforts by Democratic senators were primarily aimed at re-election rather than substantive policy changes.

In response to Bartiromo's question about whether such legislative efforts were merely campaign rhetoric, Tuberville affirmed: “Oh yeah, exactly. All it is is talking points for his candidates.”

Senator Tommy Tuberville represents Alabama in the United States Senate and serves on several committees including Armed Services, Agriculture, Veterans’ Affairs, and HELP.
