142 coaches at institutions in Mobile County earned $61,913 on average in 2022

Mobile County’s 142 coaches earned an average salary of $61,913 in 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

This is the ninth highest average salary per county earned by coaches at Alabama post-secondary schools during 2022.

Mobile County is home to four post-secondary schools that paid coaches during 2022. Among them, University of South Alabama stood out with the highest average coaching salary of $162,122.

Male coaches of men's teams received $97,629 on average in Mobile County, while female coaches in charge of women's teams earned an average of $47,519.

Research from the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management found NCAA coaches are compensated like CEOs, with top coaches earning more than $1.5 million annually.
