Description:
The University of South Alabama Department of Earth Science is hosting its first "GIS Day" on February 16! Geographic Information Science is a way to represent spatial data to make maps, perform analysis, and make decisions - and it is a way for students who study geography, geology, meteorology, biology, engineering, business and other areas to find work after graduation. We hope you'll join us for a great afternoon of GIS-centric activities.
Invited speaker Dr. Diana Restrepo-Osorio will speak about how GIS data is utilized in a number ways, particularly regarding water resources. Dr. Restrepo-Osorio, a Geographer for the US Geological Survey, will talk about getting water-centric datasets out to a wide variety of stakeholders.
