The People’s Parade will hit the streets on the following Saturday, January 28 also at 1pm. Be sure to get your applications in early to participate in this fun and uber popular event! On February 4 (10am) Mardi Gras “goes to the dogs” as the Mystic Krewe of Salty Paws gathers at Water Tower Plaza for a tail wagging good time! Finally, on February 5 (630pm), Massacre Island Secret Society showcases the rich history and pageantry of the island during this elegant evening event. The Town Council has put new rules in place this year to better manage the parade route along Bienville Boulevard (right-of-way) and improve safety as follows; Reserving of spaces along the parade route is limited to the day of event (beginning at sunrise) and ropes, ribbons, and other similar materials are not allowed to mark areas. Vehicles, tents, lawn chairs and the like can be used but must be accompanied by at least one individual at all times. Items placed along the route must be removed at the conclusion of each parade or be subject to disposal during the post-parade clean up process. Parade goers are alsoencouraged to only take as much space as needed for their respective group and to make room for others whenever possible.
