South Alabama XC to close out regular-season slate Friday at Crimson Classic

The South Alabama men's and women's cross country teams will compete in their final regular-season meet Friday morning at the Crimson Classic hosted by Alabama at the Harry Pritchett Running Park.

The Jaguar men will be one of 17 teams competing in the 8k scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m., while the women will compete against 22 other programs in their first 6k of the fall slated to start at 9:20 a.m.

Pre-Race Notes

•    This season marks the first time since the 2017 campaign that the Jags have competed at the meet hosted by the Crimson Tide

•    The Jag men placed 15th out of 26 teams at the meet, while the women finished 18th out of 30 teams

•    The 6k race marks the first this fall at that distance for the Jaguar women

•    Three members of the women's team – Magaud, Tonesberg and Chegot – set new personal bests two weeks ago at the Joe Piane Invitational hosted by Notre Dame

•    Magaud also established a new school record in the 5k at the meet with her time of 17:10.9 and her seventh-place finish

•    The junior has finished 20th or better in all three races this fall and inside the top 30 in 13 of her 17 career races

•    Yego picked up Sun Belt Runner of the Week honors after capturing the fourth individual title of his career in his last outing in South Bend

•    The sophomore has finished either first or second in his two races this season, and placed 13th or better in 11 of his 13 races

•    Yego (23:23.2) and Teagan Flanagan (23:54.1) finished first and second, respectively, in the 5-mile race two weeks ago

•    The Jaguar men have inside the top 10 in each of their three races this fall
