South Alabama Football Position Preview – Receivers

Over the course of this final month leading up to the start of the 2022 South Alabama football season, we will preview all the position groups on the Jaguar roster.

The nine-part series examines each position group ahead of the season opener versus Nicholls State on Sept. 3 at 4 p.m. at Hancock Whitney Stadium. This installment looks at South Alabama's receivers.

RETURNING STARTERS (2)

- Caullin Lacy (So., 5-10, 190) – Saw action in 11 games, earning six starts, and ended the season with 291 yards on 41 receptions, while registering 26 yards on the ground on 10 carries and returning four kicks for 87 yards

- Jalen Wayne (Sr., 6-2, 207) – Posted 53 catches for 630 yards — ranking second on the team in each category — while scoring a pair of touchdowns during the 2021 season, and enters the season ranked eighth in career receptions (94), ninth in yards receiving (1,163) and tied for 10th in touchdowns (5)

OTHER RETURNING PLAYERS (7)

- Nae'Saan Dickerson (R-Fr., 6-2, 195) – Received three stars from 247Sports.com and has been with the program the past two seasons

- Parker Kahlert (R-So., 6-1, 195) – Three-year member of the program who made his collegiate debut in the Jaguars' game at Tennessee

- Victor McClinton (Sr., 6-1, 193) – Has been a member of the program since the 2018 season

- Jay'juan Townsend (So., 6-0, 185) – Played in 11 games and had one reception for 62 yards against Georgia Southern, while also seeing limited action on special teams where he returned three kicks for 46 yards, averaging 15.3 yards per return

- Devin Voisin (Jr., 6-0, 190) – Played in four games last season, but was still able to receive a redshirt year

- Keyshawn Woodyard (R-Fr., 6-1, 186) – Member of the Jaguar program since the 2020 season

- Christian Wortham (R-Fr., 6-1, 189) – Member of the Jaguar program since the 2020 season

NEWCOMERS (6)

- Yasir Berry (Jr., 5-10, 185) – Led the Saddleback in receptions (42) and receiving touchdowns (8) in 2018

- Oakley Coleman (R-So., 6-3, 185) – Won the AHSAA 7A State indoor high jump and outdoor high jump events in 2016 and 2017 while attending McGill-Toolen

- Christopher Davis Jr. (Fr., 6-0, 150) – Considered a three-star recruit and among the top 55 players in Louisiana by 247Sports.com

- Jamaal Pritchett (Fr., 5-8, 169) – Recorded 27 receptions for 488 yards and averaged 18.1 yards per reception at Tuskegee

- Caeleb Schlachter (Fr., 6-3, 200) – Lettered in football and basketball at Clearwater Academy International in Clearwater Fla.

- Jeremiah Webb (R-So., 5-11, 205) – Caught a 57-yard pass on the final play of the game as South Dakota beat fourth-ranked South Dakota State, 23-20 last fall

FIVE THINGS TO KNOW

- Tolbert (2018-21) – who became the third Jaguar to be drafted (Dallas Cowboys – 88th overall pick, 24th pick in the 3rd round) by the NFL – ended his Jaguar career ranked as the program's all-time leader in receptions (178), yards receiving (3,140), touchdown catches (22) and 100-yard games (10)

- Wayne – a second-team preseason all-Sun Belt selection – ranked among the top 10 in the Sun Belt in total catches and yards receiving as well as receptions and receiving yards per game last fall

- Wayne posted a career-best 117 yards and a score on seven catches in win over Georgia Southern, and then finished with a career-high nine receptions for 111 yards in season finale against Coastal Carolina

- Lacy had 10 games of two or more receptions, including a season-best eight receptions for 63 yards against Bowling Green last fall

- Webb's game-winning play for South Dakota versus South Dakota State was named the Sports Illustrated Play of the Year for 2021
