Mobile County Public Schools issued the following announcement on Aug. 13.
Join us in congratulating Bryant High School's David Dai, who was named Alabama's Alternate Teacher of the Year.
That makes him this year's top-ranked high school teacher in the state. We would also like to congratulate Alabama's new Teacher of the Year, Dr. Andrew Jackson of Eden Elementary School in Pell City. A native of Bayou la Batre, Mr. Dai teaches math at his alma mater. Dai co-sponsors Bryant's scholars' bowl and HiQ teams, the Student Government Association, and Youth Activist Coalition. He taught Algebra I as part of mcpssTV's LIVE Lessons this past spring. He also coaches ultimate frisbee and disc golf after school. We are very proud of you, Mr. Dai.
