South Alabama Women’s Basketball has added Brandon Jaijairam to its coaching staff as an assistant coach, the program announced on Tuesday.
Jaijairam arrives in Mobile after spending the previous year with the University of Miami (Fla.) women’s basketball team. At Miami, he was involved in on-court coaching, recruiting, and video analysis. During his tenure there, he contributed to the development of Haley Cavinder, who earned a spot on the All-ACC Second Team and received recognition as the USBWA’s Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Week.
Prior to his time at Miami, Jaijairam worked at the University of South Florida (USF) for six years. His roles included student manager, graduate assistant, coordinator of basketball operations, and video coordinator. While at USF, he was part of the staff that helped secure the 2021 American Conference Championship. South Alabama head coach Yolisha Jackson was also a member of that championship staff.
“We are very excited to welcome Brandon and his family to our program,” Coach Jackson said. “Coach B comes from two historically winning programs where he played a major role. I’m looking forward to him building great relationships with our players and within our community … I couldn’t be happier to work alongside him again.”
Jaijairam is originally from Hollywood, Florida, with family roots in Trinidad & Tobago and Guyana. He attended Chaminade-Madonna College Prep where he started all four years on the basketball team and led them to a district title and regional appearance.
He began his college career at Chatham University in Pittsburgh before transferring to USF. He graduated from USF in 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science and completed a master’s degree in physical education one year later.
Jaijairam will be joined in Mobile by his wife Bri and their daughter Ary.
