South Alabama women’s basketball ended its non-conference schedule with a 70-58 win over North Alabama on Sunday at The Mitch. The Jaguars now have a 7-3 record for the season.
During the first quarter, Cordasia Harris scored her 1,000th career point with a second-chance layup. In the second quarter, South Alabama improved its performance by making three consecutive three-point shots in the last five minutes. The fourth quarter saw both teams combine for 44 points, with Chrysta Narcisse contributing by shooting two-for-four from the field.
Cordasia Harris achieved her third straight double-double and recorded her first game of the season with more than 20 points, along with 10 rebounds. She is also the first Jaguar this season to reach these marks. The team set a new season-low with only 11 turnovers and won by more than ten points for the sixth time this year. South Alabama matched its season-high by blocking seven shots—a figure not surpassed since February 2021 when they blocked twelve against Georgia State. In addition, the Jaguars shot 54.5% from three-point range in the first half.
Head coach Yolisha Jackson commented on the team’s performance: “We didn’t have our best defensive effort tonight, but when you’re still able to keep a team under 60, score 70, and shoot 40.6% from the field and 38.9 percent from the three, a lot of good things can happen.”
The Jaguars will begin Sun Belt Conference play on Thursday against Southern Miss at Reed Green Coliseum in Hattiesburg.
