South Alabama women’s basketball will travel to Kalamazoo, Michigan, to face Western Michigan in the second round of the MAC-SBC Challenge. The game is scheduled for Saturday at noon CST at University Arena.

This contest marks the first meeting between the Jaguars and the Broncos in program history.

South Alabama enters the matchup with a 9-13 overall record and a 2-10 mark in conference play. The team is coming off a 69-60 loss to Marshall on Wednesday, where Amyah Sutton led with 19 points and recorded a career-high seven rebounds. Cordasia Harris stands out nationally, ranking among the top 30 players in double-doubles (10), offensive rebounds per game (3.7), and field goal percentage (55.7%). Since January 24, South Alabama has reduced its turnovers to an average of 15 per game, down from an earlier season average of 21.4. A win would give South Alabama its first season with at least ten victories since the 2020-21 campaign. In the first round of this challenge on November 2, 2025, South Alabama defeated Akron by a score of 87-63.

Western Michigan holds a record of 6-14 overall and is ranked tenth in the Mid-American Conference following a recent road loss to Ohio, finishing 76-37. Kailey Starks leads Western Michigan with an average of 11.75 points per game while D’Myjah Bolds averages 5.50 rebounds per game and has accumulated sixteen blocks this season. In their opening-round match-up of the MAC-SBC Challenge, Western Michigan lost to App State by a score of 65-45.
