South Alabama achieved notable results at the 2026 Sun Belt Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships held at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Alabama. The men’s team finished third with 102 points, and the women’s team secured fifth place with 53 points during the two-day event.
Individual conference titles were won by Charleen Elizondo, Brady Keller, and Terek Logan. The men’s distance medley relay also claimed gold for South Alabama.
Elizondo led the women’s distance group by winning both the 3000 meters (9:42.28) and setting a school record in the 5000 meters (16:38.49), contributing a total of 20 points to her team’s score.
Freshman Brady Keller took first place in the men’s mile with a time of 4:15.94. He later joined Brody Hamilton, Jordan Morrison, and Blayton Bernard to win the distance medley relay in 10:03.40.
In field events, Terek Logan won the men’s pole vault by clearing 5.23 meters. Will Frederick also cleared this height to finish second, while Grayson Venezia placed seventh, giving South Alabama three top-seven finishes in this event.
Jonathan Henderson earned third place in the men’s high jump after clearing 2.13 meters. On the women’s side, Kayden Engel tied for second in high jump with a clearance of 1.74 meters.
Samuel Mika added a third-place finish in the men’s weight throw.
On track events, Nieko Garnes finished second in the men’s 400 meters with a time of 47.81 seconds.
Presleigh Montalvo earned bronze in the women’s 60-meter hurdles (8.38), while Jadon Thomason was runner-up on the men’s side (7.93).
The Jaguars also had strong performances in multi-events and relays; Jamie Willis took third place in the indoor pentathlon with 3,740 points and Calli Stokes finished sixth with 3,545 points.
Jordan Morrison scored fifth place in the men’s 800 meters (1:53.84), Avery Childress placed fifth in the men’s 200-meter final (21.59), and South Alabama’s men’s 4×400-meter relay team came fourth overall (3:13.95).
Texas State captured both men’s and women’s team championships with scores of 140.5 and 126.5 points respectively; Louisiana finished second for both teams.
The Jaguars will compete next at their home USA Outdoor Invitational on March 13–14 at Jaguar Track in Mobile, Alabama, while some athletes will prepare for NCAA Indoor Championships on those same dates.
