South Alabama Track & Field will participate in two separate meets against Sun Belt rivals Southern Miss and Troy on April 3–4. The team will split its roster, sending athletes to both the Doc Anderson Invitational in Troy, Alabama, and the Southern Miss Invitational in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
This weekend marks the second consecutive week that South Alabama is dividing its squad for competition. Last week, the Jaguars competed at both the Raleigh Relays and Florida State Relays.
During those events, South Alabama secured four event wins. Terek Logan and Dianna Goodman achieved a sweep in pole vault events. Jonathan Henderson won the high jump, while Avery Childress took first place in the 400-meter race.
Several team members are currently ranked among national leaders early in this outdoor season. Henderson is tied for ninth nationally in high jump with a mark of 2.15 meters (7-0.5). Reuben Booysen stands at eighteenth place nationally for javelin with a throw of 68.97 meters (226-3), while Logan ranks fifteenth nationally in pole vault at 5.30 meters (17-4.5). On the women’s side, Iyana Johnson holds thirty-fifth place nationally in hammer throw with a distance of 59.32 meters (194-7).
The multi-event group—including Leila McClough, Aubrey Evans, Nic Glass, Calli Stokes, Samuel Warriner, Heath Whigham, and Jamie Willis—will compete at Troy’s Doc Anderson Invitational against teams such as Alabama State and Mercer among others.
Meanwhile, twenty-eight Jaguars will travel to Hattiesburg for the Southern Miss Invitational alongside schools including Alcorn State and Jackson State. Field events are scheduled to begin Friday afternoon with competitions concluding Saturday after the men’s 4×400-meter relay.
