South Alabama announced on March 15 that it will host the Magnolia Collegiate women’s golf tournament at the RTJ Magnolia Grove – Crossings Course from March 16 to 17. The two-day, 54-hole event will begin Monday morning with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start, followed by the second round later that day. The final round is scheduled for Tuesday, also starting at 8:30 a.m.
The tournament brings together a field of thirteen teams, including Central Arkansas, James Madison, Lipscomb, Missouri State, Navy, New Haven, North Alabama, Seminole State, Southern Miss, Stetson, UT Arlington and West Georgia. South Alabama will be paired with Stetson and Southern Miss in the opening round and will tee off on holes one through three.
The Jaguars’ lineup features Anna Behnsen (1B Tee), Daniela Palmeros (1A Tee), Mercedes Aldana (2B Tee), Lillian Buehle (2A Tee) and McKenna Murphy (3 Tee). Ana Malcolm Poch and Katelyn Foster are set to compete as individuals and will start on hole eighteen. Behnsen leads the team in strokes per round with an average of 72.90 and has recorded fifty-eight birdies this season. Palmeros follows with an average of 74.67 strokes per round and forty birdies.
Both Behnsen and Palmeros have achieved three sub-70 rounds this season. Additionally, each golfer holds a tournament victory this spring; Palmeros earned medalist honors at the Fifth Annual Evie Odom Invitational hosted by Old Dominion during the fall season.
This home tournament marks South Alabama’s first since the 2023-24 season. Live scoring links for each round will be available on USAJaguars.com.
