South Alabama’s cross country teams will host the Azalea City Classic, their only home meet of the season, on October 3 at Langan Park in Mobile. The women’s team will compete in a 6k race starting at 6:05 p.m., followed by the men’s 8k at 6:30 p.m.
The event marks the 51st edition of the Azalea City Classic. South Alabama’s women’s team has won the event for ten consecutive years, while the men’s team holds a seven-year winning streak. Charleen Elizondo and Xavier Johnson, last year’s individual champions, are set to compete again this year.
Athletes representing South Alabama include Carson Barlow, Bo Crews, Tyler Doty, Xavier Johnson, Brady Keller, Jean-Pierre Le Roux, Amos Pkemoi, John Luke Stovall, and JD Wine for the men; Abigail Amick, Charleen Elizondo, Rylee Deignan, Katie Giles, Tyndall Ann Griffith, Samantha Menikheim, Kate Miller, and Aubrey Zuberi for the women.
Other schools participating in both men’s and women’s races are Troy University, University of New Orleans, Marion Military Institute (MMI), University of Mobile and Huntingdon College.
