South Alabama’s softball team is set to face Nicholls State on Tuesday, March 3 at Jaguar Field in Mobile, Alabama. The game will start at 5 p.m. and marks a significant milestone as it is the 1,000th game in the program’s history. South Alabama holds an all-time record of 597 wins, 400 losses, and two ties.
In the series against Nicholls State, South Alabama leads with a record of 19-6 overall. At home in Mobile, the Jaguars have won 11 out of 13 games against the Colonels. On neutral ground, South Alabama also has an advantage with two wins to one loss.
Presley Lively enters this matchup with a streak of reaching base safely in 20 consecutive games. She is one game away from tying for the eighth-longest such streak in program history alongside former players Mackenzie Brasher (2023), Abby Allen (2022), Brittani Reid (2019), and Chloe Rathburn (2014), each with a streak of 21 games. Lively currently has a .358 batting average and leads the Sun Belt Conference (SBC) in triples with three and walks with seventeen.
Pitcher Ryley Harrison holds a season record of seven wins and three losses. She ranks among the top ten pitchers in several SBC categories: fourth in innings pitched (60.1), third in strikeouts (54), tied for third in strikeouts looking (11) and wins (7), eighth in earned run average at 2.44, and tenth for opposing batting average (.250). This spring she has recorded five complete games and four shutouts.
The Jaguars’ pitching staff leads the SBC with six shutouts this season. They are second in strikeouts looking with thirty, third both in total strikeouts at 111 and opponent batting average at .255.
Virginia Mambelli leads South Alabama hitters with a .393 batting average along with eleven runs batted in, including one double and one home run. Olivia Branstetter has driven in sixteen runs to lead the team while Stagner has thirteen RBIs and Gracie Dees ten so far this spring.
