South Alabama’s softball team is set to travel to Athens, Georgia, for the Bulldog Classic after two consecutive weekends hosting tournaments at home. The Jaguars will start their tournament run on Friday against the host team, Georgia, at 5 p.m. (CT). On Saturday, they are scheduled to play UNC Wilmington at 9:30 a.m. (CT) and face Georgia again at noon. The event concludes with another matchup against UNC Wilmington on Sunday morning.
Games played against Georgia will be available for streaming via SECNetwork+. Live statistics and streaming links for all South Alabama games can be found on the team’s schedule page.
The Jaguars have previously participated in two tournaments hosted by Georgia—the Red & Black Classic in 2021 and the Georgia Softball Classic in 2010—holding a combined record of 4-3 in those events. This spring marks their third encounter with an SEC opponent. Their game against UNC Wilmington will be the first meeting between these two programs.
Ryley Harrison has made notable contributions this season, ranking among the top ten pitchers in several categories within the league: she is third in innings pitched (53.1), third in strikeouts (46), tied for second in strikeouts looking (9), third in wins (6), fourth in ERA (1.71), and ninth in opposing batting average (.229).
The South Alabama pitching staff leads the Sun Belt Conference with 95 strikeouts and five shutouts so far this season. They are also second in strikeouts looking (24), third in opponent batting average (.234), and fourth overall in ERA (2.83).
On offense, Presley Lively holds a .378 batting average along with two doubles and two triples. Olivia Branstetter follows closely with a .364 average and leads the team with 16 runs batted in; Stagner has contributed 12 RBIs this spring as well. Branstetter, Gracie Dees (.327), and Kayden Dunn each rank fifth within the Sun Belt Conference for doubles, having hit five apiece. Virginia Mambelli currently boasts a .450 batting average, one double, one home run, and seven RBIs.
