South Alabama’s women’s soccer team will travel to Birmingham to play Samford on August 21 at Shauna Yelton Field. The match is scheduled for 6 p.m.
The two teams have met four times in the past, with South Alabama holding a record of one win, one loss, and two draws against Samford. Their most recent meeting ended in a scoreless draw on August 19, 2016.
South Alabama enters the game following a 2-0 victory over Tennessee Tech. Melina Descary scored her first goal since the 2023 season with a header, while newcomer Andrea Iljkic added another goal.
Samford comes into its home opener after drawing 0-0 at Auburn on August 17. Offensive leaders for Samford include Sam De Luca and Clare Nicholas, each having scored once so far this season.
