South Alabama men’s basketball head coach Richie Riley announced on May 9 the signing of German forward Lenni Kunzewitsch to join the Jaguars for the 2026-27 season.
Kunzewitsch, a 6-foot-9 wing from Germany, will join South Alabama after playing with Ratiopharm Ulm in Germany’s ProB league. During regional play last season, he averaged 11.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game while shooting 40.9 percent from three-point range on 66 attempts. He also made 51.9 percent of his two-point shots and converted on 66.7 percent of his free throws across eleven appearances.
In addition to his regional performance, Kunzewitsch appeared in twenty-two ProB games where he averaged 4.2 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game while shooting over fifty-two percent inside the arc and more than seventy-seven percent from the free throw line.
“Lenni possesses a unique skill set,” head coach Richie Riley said. “He has the ability to really shoot the ball while also attacking off the bounce. His length and rebounding ability will allow him to make a major impact in our zone. We’re thrilled to add Lenni to our program.”
Kunzewitsch is now the sixth newcomer added to South Alabama’s roster this offseason alongside Diego Roman, Owen Kenney, Aaron Goldstein, Jalen Langsy, and Davaughn Hueitt.
The addition of Kunzewitsch is expected to bring further depth and versatility as South Alabama prepares for upcoming seasons.
