South Alabama Football assistant coach Tre Williams has been recognized by 247Sports as one of college football’s rising young coaches, earning a spot on the organization’s annual “30 Under 30” list. The list highlights up-and-coming assistant coaches and staffers across the country.
Williams is entering his third season with the Jaguars in 2025, serving as both special teams coordinator and outside linebackers coach. His recent work includes mentoring kicker Laith Marjan during the 2024 season. Marjan converted 16 out of 17 field goal attempts, including a long kick of 49 yards, and made 42 extra points. He also handled kickoff duties for South Alabama. Marjan’s performance led to him being named a Lou Groza Award Semifinalist and earning All-Sun Belt Conference Second Team honors.
On defense, Williams coached linebackers Courtney McBride Jr. and Aakil Washington in his first year overseeing that position group. Both players recorded 39 tackles each during the season. McBride led the team in tackles for loss (10.5) and sacks (5.0) in 2024.
The Jaguars are set to begin their 2025 football season at home against Morgan State on Saturday, August 30, with kickoff scheduled for 6 p.m. CT.
“Each year, 247Sports attempts to identify the next wave of up-and-coming assistant coaches and staffers in college football,” according to the release from South Alabama Athletics.
