South Alabama men’s basketball will begin its Sun Belt Conference Championship Tournament campaign on Friday, March 6, facing Georgia Southern at 7:30 p.m. CT at the Pensacola Bay Center in Pensacola, Florida. The game will be available via StatBroadcast for live stats, ESPN+ for streaming, and Jags Radio Network for radio coverage.

The Jaguars enter the tournament with a 21–10 overall record and an 11–7 mark in conference play. In their most recent outing, South Alabama lost to Southern Miss 68–55 at home. Chaze Harris led the team with 23 points and nine rebounds, while Adam Olsen contributed 14 points and Jayden Cooper added 10. The Jaguars shot 32.7 percent from the field and made four of their 22 three-point attempts.

Georgia Southern comes into the matchup as the No. 10 seed after securing two tournament wins in Pensacola—an 88–84 victory over Old Dominion on March 4 and an 80–77 win against Arkansas State on March 5. Tyren Moore and Spudd Webb have each averaged more than 15 points per game during the season and both surpassed the 20-point mark in recent tournament games. Webb scored 29 points against Old Dominion; Moore had 25 against Arkansas State. The Eagles have made a total of 24 three-pointers across their first two tournament contests and are second in the Sun Belt for average three-pointers per game (9.7), ranking among national leaders in attempts.

In series history, South Alabama holds a 19–12 advantage over Georgia Southern, including an earlier win this season—87–71 at home on January 10. The teams have split their previous two meetings in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.

Chaze Harris was named Sun Belt Player of the Year on March 1, becoming only the seventh player in program history to receive this honor and the first since Augustine Rubit in 2013. Harris averaged a league-leading 18.9 points per game during the regular season and increased that average to 22 points per game during conference play. He ranks seventh nationally in field goals made (222) and free throw attempts (234), with his total of 587 points placing him among the top scorers nationwide.

Harris was selected to the All-Sun Belt First Team, while Adam Olsen earned Second Team honors for South Alabama. Olsen finished fifth in conference scoring with a total of 502 points (16.7 per game) and led all players with 99 three-pointers made—a figure that ties South Alabama’s single-season record set by Chris Young during the 2002–03 season.

Defensively, South Alabama leads NCAA Division I teams in fewest fouls committed per game (12.6), is fourth nationally in field-goal percentage defense (38.3%), and ranks within the top-60 programs for scoring defense (69 points allowed per game). Offensively, they are third nationally in turnovers per game (8.7) and have achieved fewer than ten turnovers in twenty games this season.

The Jaguars’ interior play has been strong throughout the year—they have outscored opponents by nearly double inside the paint—and they have forced opponents into low shooting percentages from beyond the arc as part of their defensive approach.
