South Alabama Track & Field athletes Jordan Morrison and Samuel Mika have been recognized as Sun Belt Athletes of the Week after strong performances at an LSU meet. Morrison received the Track Athlete of the Week honor, while Mika was named Field Athlete of the Week.

Mika delivered a notable showing in the throws, taking first place in shot put with a personal-best distance of 17.66 meters. This result moved him to second place on South Alabama’s all-time indoor record list for shot put. He also finished fourth in the weight throw with a mark of 18.67 meters. The award marks two consecutive weeks that Mika has both won an event and advanced to second all-time in program records.

Morrison earned his accolade by winning the 800 meters race with a time of 1:54.20, which was the fastest performance in that event during the meet.

The team is scheduled to host the USA Invitational at Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Alabama, on February 1.
