South Alabama falls to LSU Tigers in women’s soccer season opener

South Alabama Jaguars women’s soccer team began their 2025 season with a loss to LSU in Baton Rouge on Thursday, ending the match 2-0 in favor of the Tigers.

Goalkeeper Jaidin Kinch recorded three saves during the game, stopping shots from Ida Hermannsdottir and Ava Galligan, who were among LSU’s leading offensive players last season. The Jaguars’ defense held LSU scoreless for 73 minutes before conceding both goals.

Amelia Campanella, Bonnie Frost, K.J. Straub, and freshman Victoria Rocci each played the full 90 minutes of the match.

The Jaguars will return to action for their first home game of the season against Tennessee Tech on Sunday, August 17 at 11 a.m. CT.
