South Alabama Jaguars women’s soccer team lost 1-0 to Appalachian State in a Sun Belt Conference match held at the Appalachian Soccer Stadium in Boone, North Carolina. The only goal of the game came in the 66th minute when Izzi Wood of App State converted a penalty kick.

With this result, South Alabama’s conference record stands at 3-1. During the match, Aliya Gomes, Sofia Ferrante, and Zamiyah Hill each registered at least one shot on target. Goalkeeper Sierra Giorgio made one save from two shots on goal.

Head coach Chris Hennessey commented on the team’s performance: “I’m proud of the effort of the girls. There were a lot of things out of our control on this trip and during the game, however, we will let it sink in the next 24 hours and then be ready to go for another tough away trip Thursday.”

The Jaguars’ next match is scheduled against ULM in Monroe, Louisiana. The game will take place at Brown Stadium on Thursday, October 2, with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
