South Alabama’s cross country teams will compete at the Crimson Classic, hosted by the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. The event is scheduled for Friday, October 17, at Harry Pritchett Running Park. The men’s 8k race begins at 8:30 a.m., followed by the women’s 6k race at 9:20 a.m.
The men’s team from South Alabama includes Carson Barlow, Tyler Doty, Xavier Johnson, Brady Keller, Jean-Pierre Le Roux, Amos Pkemoi, John Luke Stovall, and JD Wine. The women’s team features Abigail Amick, Charleen Elizondo, Katie Giles, Tyndall Ann Griffith, Samantha Menikheim, Kate Miller, Hannah Quick, and Aubrey Zuberi.
According to the team notes, this will be the second 8k race of the season for the men’s squad. Xavier Johnson previously led the team at the Southern Showcase. On the women’s side, Charleen Elizondo has been the top finisher for South Alabama in all three events so far this season.
The field includes 20 men’s teams and 23 women’s teams from various universities such as Vanderbilt, Alabama, Auburn, Georgia Tech and others.
