U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville from Alabama has joined Senator Jim Banks of Indiana in backing the Abortion Funding Awareness Act. This proposes that states release specific data on Medicaid payments made to abortion providers, including amounts, services funded, and details on abortions performed, to enhance transparency involving taxpayer money in abortion services.

Senator Tuberville expressed, “Zero taxpayer dollars should be used to pay for abortions.” He referenced his previous opposition to the Biden administration’s abortion-related travel policy. “Using Medicaid funds to pay for abortions is no different. Every life is sacred, and I will always fight for the unborn and the taxpayers.”

Senator Banks stated, “A majority of Americans agree that taxpayers shouldn’t be forced to fund abortions. My bill exposes states that abuse tax dollars this way, aiming to protect unborn lives in the process.”

Senators Marsha Blackburn, Ted Budd, Steve Daines, and Todd Young have also supported this legislation. Representative Erin Houchin is leading the campaign in the U.S. House of Representatives. The bill has received endorsements from several organizations, including Americans United for Life, SBA Pro-Life America, and Concerned Women for America LAC.

The bill’s main provisions are highlighted in the Abortion Provider Transparency Act. Senator Tuberville represents Alabama in the U.S. Senate and serves on various committees, including Armed Services and Veterans’ Affairs.
