U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville of Alabama, along with 81 Senate colleagues, has introduced a resolution to designate May 11-17, 2025, as National Police Week. This resolution aims to honor the sacrifices made by law enforcement officers across the nation, including 234 fallen officers. Among those recognized are four officers from Alabama: Jesse Cooper from Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Timothy W. Johns from Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, Jermyius Young from Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, and John R. McCrary who served both Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office and Rogersville Police Office.
Senator Tuberville expressed his gratitude for the service of law enforcement officers, stating: “Every day, our law enforcement officers put on their uniforms and leave their homes not knowing if they’ll return.” He acknowledged the ultimate sacrifice some have made in ensuring community safety and emphasized that this resolution serves as a token of appreciation for their bravery. “I will continue to back the men and women in blue and champion pro-police policies here in the Senate,” he added.
The full text of the resolution is available for public viewing.
Senator Tuberville represents Alabama in the United States Senate and holds positions on several committees including Armed Services, Agriculture, Veterans’ Affairs, HELP (Health, Education, Labor & Pensions), and Aging.
